Dark Emptiness

Darkness has penetrated the defenses of my castle. My head throbs dully, but it is nothing compared to the pain I feel as I hold my swords close, watching the storm unfold. I am alone, and I feel as empty as the castle which has held me for so long, shielding me from the world outside as it shields the world from me and the dark touch I possess. Music weaves through the empty halls, filling up the silences that I've grown accustomed to. The darkness presses against my heart, seeking entry. I can feel the bonds withering. D was furious; something has snapped between us. As I watched him smoke his last cigarette, trying desperately to keep his cool with each drag, I felt something my heart shift. He was livid, nearly angry enough for things to fly. I stood in the eye of the storm, watching him without emotion. That only made him angrier. He snatched my cigarette from my hand before I could light it. I turned and walked away. Throughout it all, no more than fifteen words passed between us. I said nothing at all, which seemed to annoy him a lot. I don't care. I have always had distance between my self and the people around me. That shouldn't change. Maybe I've forgotten who I am and what I'm capable of in the past few years, and maybe it's time I remember the hard lessons that comes with being me. D will never be anything more than a shield against external forces. Any feelings I might have had for him have withered to ash, as have the blossoms of relationships in my life. The shadows are restless tonight, and I am weary. All I have to say is this: don't ever trust me. My blades are sharp and cruel, and I strike at sore points. Tomorrow is Sunday. I have one more day left before they overwhelm me and I am dragged along the currents into the sea of humanity. I have deserved my crown of thorns, and I wear it proudly before my loyal attendants Silence and Loneliness.
I know it was destined to go wrong. You were looking for the great escape to chase your demons away.
