Psychic Wish

I wish I could stay this way forever, untouched by the darkness that cloaks the rest of the world. When the morning sun rises, I have to deal with the repercussions of my action. Still, I am not one to bow my head and apologise, even if I am the one at fault. No, my stubborn nature is both gift and curse. The winds sigh gently through the bare gardens. The green beauties are gone, leaving behind only barren ground and scorched earth. The house is similarly stripped bare, and I wonder detachedly if the time has come. I have been given a slight reprieve, and I don't know what tomorrow will bring. A multitude of feelings that will overwhelm me, the rise and fall of human emotion. At times like this I miss his touch and voice, the soft gentle words capable of stopping time itself. It is useless to keep reminding myself of my losses in life, such as they are. Impossible to keep skipping along to a beat that died a long time ago. I continue battling demons, constantly calling upon greater men and women to aid me in my eternal quest, and perhaps...just perhaps, I am standing at the door of salvation. Dare I knock? I wish I could bind him to my side, denying Heaven one of its number. He's gained his wings, he's free to fly. I have no right to ask him this small favour.
Stay with me and help me fight my demons.

Dark Flight

My wings are spread wide. The time has come to fly. I have said goodbye to my dark mares, goodbye to this dark castle....and yes, goodbye to Yammy. Squeezing my eyes shut, I know I will find a better life elsewhere. I hope to God she agrees, because I have had it with life here. There has got to be somewhere better, and I will carve 'better' out with my own two hands. It is time to renounce my crown, my title, and leave my castle to its ruin. Perhaps another will take my place. I will be happier once I'm working to keep both of us safe and happy. I promise you, I will take care of you. Trust me, and I will give up my darkness so we can both live in the light. The clock counts down the days, and I know...this is the time.

Dark Reins

The pretty horses neigh softly, nudging me gently with their wet noses. My beautiful mares of the night, with fiery manes and glowing red eyes. Their hooves strike the pavement, and sparks fly. The reins are in my hands, my carriage of darkness awaits. The winds grow still, and I sense a cloud of fear rising up to choke me. Is it my own fear that paralyses me, or the fear that emanates from the people around me? I don't know, and I no longer care. My mares are growing impatient, but still I stand undecided. Do I ride the night skies with nothing but my crown and my powers, and fulfill what I set out to do? Or do I hold back the reins, and restrain the darkness that swells up with the rising of the moon? My mares fidget restlessly as I stand and ponder my next move. They understand that their time is limited, that the sun will rise soon and force them to flee. Their black coats ripple as they move, and I absently reach out to feel the smoothness of these dark creatures who came to take me away. How many people have been hurt or inconvenienced in my quest for personal glory, for answers, for self-gratification? Sure, I could kid myself that the world owes me for all the pain I've been through, but really...I'm just perpetuating the cycle. *sighs* It is one in the morning. Five more hours till sunrise, when my dark illusions will be dispelled and my mares will fade away before the light of the sun. I understand the nature of darkness better than most people, with my crown of thorns and my shadowed past. Will I ride out this storm on my own, or do I allow the night mares to bring me away from one hell to another? *closes eyes* Give me an answer, Gabriel, as your old friend Lucifer attempts to lure me away from the path you've set me on. Old friends, old nemesis, what does it matter really? Light and dark have both left indelible marks on my soul. But which will win out?
I am lost, but my horses are ready. What do I do?
